About

Arden, William and Wills

Welcome Art Lovers,

Let me tell you a little about myself: I am unequivocally a hopeless romantic. From my style to my relationships, even down to my favorite travel destinations… I always choose the romantic way. Just ask William, my husband!

William and I live with our son Wills at Windwood Equestrian a working horse farm (think the sweetest baby horses and large sport horses). Our life at the farm feels absolutely enchanted. I enjoy eating good meals with friends and cooking for my family. If you say travel I say my bags are packed and where are we going. I love experiencing new locations and cultures. I believe travel has enriched my creative abilities and I find endless inspiration from the world around me. When at the home I enjoy playing in the front yard with Wills, and helping him learn to ride his pony. Wills is a JOY and miracle for us after a long a hard road through IVF treatments. After his arrival I needed to change my hectic schedule and painting has given me the opportunity to still have a creative outlet but be present with my family.

I have been a full-time artist since 1999, and I truly believe it is my calling.

Visual Artist Arden Ward Upton

Bio

Arden Ward Upton has been a full-time artist for 23 years. She is a prominent figure in fine art photography throughout the Southeast. She has the uncanny ability to see and capture the beauty of the world that surrounds her through visual art. She produces captivating work has an outstanding reputation in the Southern art community. Arden’s work can be seen in local, national and international magazines as well as a variety of books, blogs and feature stories. Her southern sophistication, style and ability to see beauty has made her a heavily sought after visual artist.

After the arrival of her son Wills in 2020, Arden felt the need for a more quite and reflective lifestyle. In her spare-time she began to pick up the paintbrush for the first time in 20 years. First with watercolors, then acrylics but as time passed she realized her passion for painting lay in the texture and tones of oil. This discovery was made while restoring her great-grandmother’s painting. Arden’s grandparents on both sides were artist and she derives a lot of her inspiration from them, even the way she signs her work is inspired by her great grandmother a prolific and significant female southern oil painter from the turn of the century.

It is a logical assumption that visual art is in Arden's DNA. From a young age she displayed a natural talent for a wide variety of creative outlets. Arden is inspired by the world around her and it’s original creator God. With the use of her highly developed eye her skills can either highlight or distance the subject to the viewer. Her impressionistic style brings a soothing feeling to the viewer. Arden’s goal is for her collectors to find peace and joy within her art and that it can be shared in their homes or other environments.

Arden paints En Plein Air or from memory so the details may be distorted and blurred in a way that emotions are revealed to the viewer.
